2009-06-06 - R.I.P. Chris Leger!

5 years ago today our beloved friend Chris Leger passed away, leaving the Moncton Music Scene left in shock - unable to believe that such a great guy, incredible musician and close friend to everyone was indeed gone.

To celebrate Chris' legacy, we're releasing an album by his old band THE RUMORS entitled I Heard They Were Just A Rumor! People have been long awaiting being able to get their hands on this release, re-mastered with original artwork - ready for download!

Also as a special added treat, we have Chris' SOLO EP (3 of 4 songs he recorded that day) which he recorded in the basement of Cabin Studios with Kyle in August of 2002. Chris was so excited for the upcoming ADHD album they were going to record in the late summer/early fall that he wanted to get some songs off his chest in the meantime. He played Ryan's kit (of The Motorleague/The Woods), tracked all the bass direct, used a super tiny amp we had kicking around the basement for the guitar tracks, and a broken 15 year (strings and all) old classical guitar with a huge crack in the body. He did all the lead and backing vocals himself and I remember him stoked beyond belief when he heard the tracks, he loved just hanging out and mixing the stuff - he was so passionate about what he just created, more so than you'd ever see from anyone in general.

2008-09-11 - Happy Birthday Asian Dave!

Our favorite programmer friend is officaly old today - but he can still do more backflips into oncoming traffic than anyone.

While some of use are aging more gracefully than others - we've been hard at work getting the next release ready.

The audio sounds amazing - but the cover art unfortunately is likely lost in 1996 so we're working on the most faithful recreation that we can. It will release on the 19th - with a bonus early sneak peak going to out to everyone on the mailing list.

Stay tuned for that - it will be an awesome edition to the re-releases project.

2008-08-19 - Moncton Re-Releases Project Launches - MRR001 - Honeybucket - Honeybucket

We're pleased to launch the Moncton Re-Releases Project which will allow us to revisit older and hard to come by Moncton records - and allow them to be downloaded and collected freely. All releases are done with the co-operation of the band and include scans of cover art, and information about the release - through the use of wikiMonctonlocals.

We're also pleased to announce our next few releases for the project which are:

The Neutrinos - S/T
Super Dickie 66 - S/T
Iron Giant - Live At 53rd & 3rd (bonus release)

Our first release however is available right now and is 1996's Honeybucket Self Titled album. It's a solid record start to finish but songs like Ready, Primus, Acid Moon, and Fire are sure to stand out for anyone who likes gritty Moncton sounding rock circa the late 90's.

2008-08-15 - New Site - New Release - New Project

We're waaaay overdue on having a working site - and getting this project underway...but we've finally had a bit of time to finish up some other projects (Monctonlocals, Frederictonlocals, RockInHalifax, The Motorleague record) and get down to work on this baby. The project is simply called The Moncton Re-Release Project. The goal is to re-release some of Moncton's best out of print and rare recordings - including a full wiki entry on the band / recording - for free via the web.

We're going to aim at one per month for the next year - starting with Honeybucket's 1996 S/T release
